We are in the middle of our Tweightloss contest and I am SO proud that my team, The Twinners, won the weekly challenge a couple weeks back. (Thanks to Audrey for a great feature as well!)
I believe it is easier to stay on track when the challenge is new and you are SO excited to experience the changes. Or as the goal date approaches, it seems easier to get our tails in gear as well. But in the middle, we often lose motivation. So with that, here are some tips I hope will help keep you on track!
- Picture this! Post a picture of yourself (the current you that you want to change) where you can see it daily. Your refrigerator or desk is a great spot. Look at it everyday as a reminder of why you are doing this. If you have been at your goal weight previously, post that picture next to the current one to remind you what you are working toward.
- Track your progress. Keeping a journal, online or handwritten, is a great way to keep track of your workouts on a daily basis. Log your workouts so you can look back and see where you were getting results or if you aren’t getting them, you can track where you missed workouts. Be consistent in the way you measure your progress either with measurements, favorite clothes, a scale or body fat measurement.
- Write down your reasons for working out. Putting your reasons in writing is a great way to solidify them and commit to them!
- Find inspiration…daily. Whether it is through an online community, newsletters or fitness blogs (such as this one!), find a piece of inspiration every day.
- Make a public commitment. Telling friends, family, co-workers, etc. about your goals is a sure-fire way to stay committed. Especially if there are nay sayers in the group you tell!
So keep up the good work and remember WHY you are doing this. My guess is, if you are like me, it is to have a better quality of life, look and feel better and to be around for as many years as possible doing the things you love to do!

Thanks for posting these. After my beach vacation, where I gained a ton of weight, I got really discouraged and lost all motivation.
This week I came to life again and am very gung-ho and actually excited about gaining control over my body and eating again.
So, I can't say I contributed to our team's success these past couple of weeks but I will definitely be doing so this week and beyond! :)
