Staying the Course When the Going Gets Rough

I was inspired by a blog post I read today from Gabrielle Reece. Gabby is one of my favorite role models because while she is an amazing athlete and incredibly fit...she is real. She tells it like it is and I always get inspired. In today's post she shares a few great ideas for getting in shape, back in shape, and staying committed and relates us every day folks to Olympians!

As far as Tweightloss goes, today was a good day for me. I got a great workout in this morning and I ate really healthy all day. I wanted to sit down and have that afternoon beer with co-workers, but I didn't. I think the biggest thing is not to think too far ahead. Just look at today and do the best that you can. Tomorrow will take care of itself if you follow this advice, because when you start thinking about it...it will be today.

I will be posting more this weekend about some of the topics my Tweightloss Team, The Twinners, has requested to learn about. And after all, isn't that why we are all doing this? To learn how to live longer, healthier and more fulfilled lives??

Stay strong!

Set Realistic Goals and Be Patient!

Well, it is day 4 of the Tweightloss Challenge and my team has officially decided on the name "The Twinners". I like their positive thinking already!

One thing I hear over and over as a personal trainer is that results are not happening fast enough. Let me just say...the extra pounds we are carrying did not come on over night or even in a week and they are not going to go away that quickly either! In the first couple of weeks you may see lots of progress, depending on your diet, as you may lose water weight. A pound is equal to 3500 calories. Most of us are probably eating 1400-1800 calories a day (or at least we should be...more on that in another post!) so that means that in order to lose a pound, we need to have a 3500 calorie deficit. In order to lose 2 pounds in a week, we need a 7,000 calorie deficit for the week. That is ALOT of calories. We can create this deficit through exercise or clean eating with fewer calories but either way, it is just science. 3500 calories always has been and always will be equal to a pound.

So my advice to all of you is this...make your goals reasonable so you don't find yourself getting discouraged. 1-2 pounds a week is reasonable. It will require some hard work, dedication and saying no to that late night ice cream (you know who you are!) but it is going to be worth it.

After all, they don't call us The Twinners for nothing!

Who is YRayburn - Tweightloss Leader?

Well, I know there is still a lot of work to be done on the blog...customization, my profile, additional links...but I thought I would go ahead and get the first post out here so you all know a little bit about me.

I have been a certified personal trainer since early 2007. I was on quite the fitness kick myself and was in the best shape of my life. Then, I fell off the wagon a bit. Between working in the Internet Marketing world for Webbed Marketing, training clients, keeping up with my house, yard, and life in general...well it got hard to keep my clean eating habits intact. Workouts are not an issue for me, it is diet. I have been saying for the past 6 months I really need to kick it in gear and lose these 20 pounds that somehow found me again.

And then I see Audrey's post and it was my call to action. I love helping people get fit and feel great and so now I get to help you AND help myself. What a perfect situation.

Because I know we are all busy and I DO have an Internet Marketing job that I love, I will post information on the blog a couple times a week to help you in your weightloss journey. Many of my team members have already sent me lots of great topics that I will be covering in the coming weeks.
I am excited to be on this journey with all of you and hope that you will find the blog useful, inspirational and motivational. Somehow I have a feeling that I will be getting just as much or more inspiration and knowledge from you as you are from me!
