Don't Sweat The Small Stuff...Control Stress!

This ties right in with my last blog post about putting health first. And as you know, I had that goal placed squarely in front of my face last week. It is amazing to me that when we put it out there to God and the universe that we are ready to grow...we are faced with challenges that help us get there.

My third goal for 2009 is "don't sweat the small stuff - control my stress level". After another round in the hospital with Marc last week, I was firmly reminded of what is truly small stuff. In my book, anything that is not life threatening is small stuff. Yes, I understand that losing your job or house is not really "small", but at least you are still here to plow ahead to other opportunities. You can recover from those obstacles.

What I mainly want to focus on with this goal is controlling what I can control. If there is a situation out of my control, I am truly going to try (TRY being the key word here) to let it go. I am going to control myself, my reactions and whatever I can do in certain situations. I can NEVER control others so I must stop trying. And I must learn that while it is good to plan (and those of you who know me, know that I am a planning fool!), plans can and do change. Often. I need to be able to roll with it and move to plan B or even plan C in some cases.

So when you leave a comment on this blog, send an email, connect with me on Facebook or Twitter, please remind me of these things and let's help each other. Even if 2009 has a great deal of challenges, working to control the way we deal with them and the stress around those challenges is the key to coming out on top!
