Another Day, Another....Pound?

Friends, it has been a good week. As I was telling one of my fitness cohorts today, even if I hadn't lost any weight at the end of the week, I FEEL good. Workouts have been strong and consistent, eating has been clean and two nights this week, I had ONE glass of wine. That my friends, is what I call moderation. It is the key to this whole thing we are all trying to achieve.

I've been thinking about all the crazy news having to do with the Hydroxycut recall and I wonder why we go to the point of putting our health at risk to lose a pound (or a few). I mean, at the end of the day, we want to be healthy and feel good, right? Have more energy and hopefully live longer. That is what I am talking about. I don't want to look like the cover of a magazine and cut my life short by 10 or 20 years in doing so. I would rather look like the average middle aged American girl (yes, I did say, middle aged girl!) that I am, be healthy and strong and be here to the ripe old age of 100. (Not sure that will happen but I think you guys know what I am trying to say).

So, to my pals who are in this with me, working every day on your goals to feel great and get in those summer pants you want to wear, remember these things:

1) Moderation - Hard one for me but I am getting there. I have an all or nothing personality by nature, but learning that I can have that piece of chocolate (not the bag) or one cookie (not the entire tin) or one glass of wine (not half the bottle) and stay on track has been liberating for me!

2) DO NOT beat yourself up when you get off track. Nuff said.

3) Today is only one day in the rest of this life's journey. I hope my journey is a long one so one day is just a drop in the bucket of the entire time I plan to be around. Refer back to number 2. :-)

4) Remember, we only get one shot at this life so make it count. Make it count by being healthy but also allowing yourself some of the treats that add to the pleasure of life.

5) Being beautiful and healthy from the inside out is most important. I cannot stress this enough. I have "been there, done that" with getting really small and lean and the person I became on the inside was not fun to be around. (I am lucky that my husband and BFFs didn't stop hanging out with me!) So while we do want to look good and be fit, remember that who you are on the inside and how you treat the people in your life matters WAY more than what you look like.

Have a great week friends!
